WACO
The proud hometown of Joshua Tree Adventure Builders and where we draw much inspiration. We are located in the Heart of Texas smack dab between Austin and Dallas, just up the road from the coast and nestled alongside the Brazos river. Here we have a bustling farmers market downtown, many many local shops and cafes, some of the best coffee and spirits and the atmosphere to hold it all. We would love to share some of our favorite spots with you so you can share a little bit of what we love so much about WacoTown.

Waco Downtown Farmers Market
The WDFM was created in 2011 with lots of work and passion for farms and farmers. It is a place to hang out with the community, support local growers and artisans and meet new people from all over. We have been regulars since its beginnings and also work there each Saturday for our favorite honey vendor. We absolutely love seeing the same faces each week and really enjoy chatting with all the out of town visitors that come in to see what the WDFM is all about each week.
Cameron Park
Cameron Park is one of the largest municipal parks in Texas. Located next door to downtown and the Brazos River, the park is an oasis with towering trees, two rivers, breathtaking cliffs and a National Recreation Trail system. Since the William Cameron Family donated the parkland more than 100 years ago, the 400-acre park has been constantly abuzz with parties, festivals and sports.
Hikers and bikers share the park with fishermen, disc golfers and picnickers. Families and school classes fill Cameron Park Zoo, while other like to stroll along the riverwalk.
Brotherwell Brewing
Brotherwell has been our favorite since it's inception. Probably because of its wonderful location in East Waco right next door to downtown and family friendly atmosphere. We love that we can take the whole crew and don't feel singled out as those people. In fact you are likely to see many families enjoying the open atmosphere wether inside its large taproom or outside on the plush grass. The brewing is outfitted with lots of games and toys and is always a relaxed time. Oh and their beer speaks for itself......

Lula Jane's
This is a spot we love for many reasons. First the made from scratch goodness that comes out of the kitchen is unmatched. Their daily lunch options are so good they usually sell out before end of day and they always have woofies....a home baked goodie for our four legged friends. Second, we spend every Saturday morning here while newly married and have such fond memories of quiet moments on the patio journaling or talking about whatever watching the birds with dogs underfoot comfortably resting. Check it out!
Cultivate 7/12
What can I say?! An amazing, eclectic art gallery in the heart of downtown that is closely tied to the community. We love any excuse to go the gallery wether to check out a new exhibit or an event.
Personally we have also benefitted from Rebekah's true love for art and artists in that she let me ( Rianna) invite 3 art classes to the space to display their work for their friends that they made during a kids art camp I taught. This was an incredible experience for them to feel valued and get a sense of what it would feel like to be an artist with a showing. She is truly a part of the Waco community and gives selflessly to make it more cultured in the arts! I have also had the privilege of displaying some of my work there in a past exhibition.

Homestead Heritage
This place has it all. A agrarian community built on common values and committed to sharing their lives with the greater Waco community there is so much to do here. We love grabbing lunch or breakfast at their cafe serving healthy and unique fare. Everything they do is done to perfection from the craftsmanship in their buildings to the way they make tea PERFECT every time. They also have a grocery store open to the public where you can find bulk flour, grains and spices as well as local produce and grass fed meat options. In addition their herb and display gardens are always open for observation and teaching opportunities for those homeschoolers out there. In addition you can by GMO/Soy free grain for your chickens or chickens themselves not to mention seeds grown in our area for years! We enjoy their Thanksgiving Festival each year as well. Find out more at their website.
Downtown Waco
Downtown Waco...yes! Wow growing up here downtown was a bit different than it is now to say the least but as a budding photographer I loved to explore here hidden alleys and peeling paint from years gone by. Now we practically live here on the weekends. First fridays are a treat with many local downtown businesses staying open late for new and old visitors often with a complimentary treat. Downtown is also home to Dichotomy Coffee and Spirits, Stone Hearth Indian Food, Cameron Trading Company Antiques, Waco Downtown Farmers Market, and so much more! Now wandering the streets downtown can lead you to a movie, many options for drinks, good food, and endless murals.
Laverty's
When I (Rianna) was a kit growing up in Wacotown I loved driving by this little shop and imagining what type of junky treasure might be piled floor to ceiling in it. It never seemed to be open until I was in high school or college and then I jumped at the chance to wander down the crowded aisles filled with stuff...stuff with history. Many of my favorite things to this day I have found there including the door in our skoolie! Now days they are only open once a month for a few days but it is worth it to check out if you are in town during that time. This has been a regular place for me for a very long time and we love shopping together now looking for that perfect piece to compliment a new build. Check them out on their facebook page here.
